Therapy for Teens

No matter what you're dealing with, I truly believe that having positive, meaningful relationships can make a big difference. As a therapist, my main goal is to be someone you can trust and count on to understand and support you, just as you are. I want therapy to be a space where you feel seen, heard, and able to focus on yourself.

I get that many teens have had rough experiences with therapy or authority figures who didn’t really listen or get it. It’s frustrating and can make it hard to see therapy as something useful. That’s why building trust is such a big deal for me. I’m here to make sure you feel respected and empowered in our sessions together.

How I Can Help...

I provide therapy for adolescents around a wide variety of issues, including:

  • Self-Esteem

  • Peer Relationships

  • Family conflict

  • Educational challenges

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Bullying

  • Childhood trauma

Why Cadenza Counseling?

I know therapy isn’t everyone’s favorite thing, which is why I try to be flexible. Besides offering online Telehealth sessions that you can do from home, I also provide in-home and nature-based therapy services like walk-and-talk sessions, hiking, and even skiing. Getting outside can make therapy feel more engaging, and you get the added perks of being active, connecting with nature, and boosting your confidence by tackling new challenges. Why not have some fun while we build trust and get comfortable with the process?

For those who feel anxious or need help dealing with stuff at home, in-home sessions can be a great way to address things in your environment that might be making life harder. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a Wilderness Counselor at a therapeutic boarding school and have always been big on outdoor adventures. I truly believe in the healing power of nature, and I love sharing that with teens who are open to a different approach. I’ve worked with all kinds of kids and teens, especially those dealing with emotional, behavioral, or learning challenges. I'm genuinely interested in your experiences and invested in helping you figure things out—because that’s what makes the difference.

A Note on Confidentiality...

In Colorado, anyone over the age of 12 has the legal right to consent to their own therapy, which means your privacy and confidentiality are protected just like an adult’s. But I also understand how important family support can be when you’re going through tough times. That’s why, once we’ve built some trust, I usually encourage my teen clients to consider signing a release that lets me share certain updates or progress with parents. This way, we can keep everyone on the same page without compromising your privacy. I’m always upfront about what gets shared, when, and why—so you’ll never be caught off guard.

If you’d like to work with me but need a parent or guardian to help with scheduling or billing, we’ll need to set up a release of information to allow those kinds of basic exchanges. Beyond that, how much we involve your parents is entirely up to you. I respect your right to privacy and believe that maintaining it is crucial to building the trust needed for therapy to really work. My goal is to make sure you feel safe, heard, and in control of your own therapy journey.
